The 12th South Asian Games (SAG) will be hosted by India in 2012. The South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) allotted the event to India after Bhutan expressed its inability to host the games. India had hosted the erstwhile South Asian Federation (SAF) Games twice at Kolkata in 1987 and Chennai in 1995.
